TANGO CHIRIMEN
Some 100 kilometers northwest of the ancient
capital city of Kyoto and today the largest
kimono
silk fabric producer in japan,the Tango
region
has a tradition going back about 1200
years.

itself.

FUROSHIKI
is a square cloth for wrapping and carrying things. It can be folded up
for easy carrying, ro it is very convenient for kimono weares.
Yuzen design on creps are popular among women.

SENSU
is a fan.There are ceremonial sensu and practical sensu. The practical
sensu are used to move air to cool oneself. The ceremonial sensu are used
as ornaments to respectC to behave modestly toward other. Also, it is believed
that the gold ground color of ceremonial sensu is the charm to ward off
evil sprits.

HAPPI
is a short jaket that looks like kimono. Ordinally , it was used as a
cover for chair in the(Buddist)temple ,@aut in the Edo period , carpenters
and plasterers wore them as their working clothes. Also in rich families,
employees wore happi with their family crest. The number of employees with
happi symbolized the prosperity of the family.

KIMONO
is@Japanese national costume. The rank of kimono depends on the materials
and patterns used. There are kamon(family crest) on formal kimonos.
